Rice and sugarcane are important crops grown mainly in tropical and subtropical regions under favorable environmental conditions. Rice requires a warm and humid climate with temperatures between 20–35 °C and is mainly cultivated during the monsoon (kharif) season. It grows best in fertile clayey or loamy soils with high water-holding capacity. Rice production depends on adequate water, nutrient management, and timely cultivation practices, while diseases such as blast, bacterial leaf blight, and sheath blight are managed using resistant varieties and appropriate chemical treatments. Sugarcane needs a warm climate with an optimum temperature of 25–35 °C and sufficient sunlight and moisture throughout its long growth period. It is planted in spring or autumn and grows well in deep, fertile, well-drained loamy soils. High yield depends on quality seed cane, proper irrigation, and nutrient management. Common diseases like red rot, smut, and wilt are controlled through resistant varieties, healthy planting material, and integrated disease management practices.
