Description

This dataset is the replication package for the paper "The Expenditure Elasticity for Food and Calories: Evidence from Unconditional Cash Transfers in Kenya", in the Journal of Development Econimics. It contains Stata and R code, datasets, and pre-generated tables and figures that reproduce the paper's main results. The package reproduces main-text Tables 2-4 and Figures 3-4, as well as Appendix Tables A2-A15 and Appendix Figures A1-A4. The analysis pools three survey rounds from two unconditional cash transfer experiments in Kenya: Nakuru Endline II (follow-up), Nakuru Endline I (midline), and Rarieda Endline.

Steps to reproduce

The package can be run in two modes. With the default setting, the master script reproduces all tables and figures from the shipped final datasets in `Data/Finale/`. With the build toggle turned on, the same master script rebuilds the intermediate and final analysis data from the de-identified raw inputs in `Data/rawdata/` and then reproduces the results.
