This dataset contains the complete set of assessment items and their corresponding categories from the Industry 4.0 Maturity Model used in the study titled "Continuous Proficiency Scaling in IRT: A Scaling Framework Using Jenks Natural Breaks – An Industry 4.0 Maturity Case Study." The model comprises 74 items, structured across three main domains: "Strategy and Organisation," "Manufacturing and Supply Chain," and "Business Models, Products and Services." Items are presented in a mixed format, including both dichotomous (binary) and polytomous (multiple-category) options, designed to capture nuanced aspects of Industry 4.0 adoption. These items form the basis for the proficiency assessment using Item Response Theory (IRT) and were specifically utilized in the Continuous Proficiency Scaling (CPS) framework presented in the associated publication. The model was applied to survey data collected from 1,469 manufacturing companies to construct an Industry 4.0 business maturity scale. This dataset is crucial for understanding the operationalization of the maturity model and for researchers interested in replicating or extending studies on Industry 4.0 assessment, Item Response Theory applications in organizational contexts, and proficiency scaling methodologies.
