Reconstructed Wind Direction TMY Dataset for Indonesia (2011–2020)
Description
This dataset provides a sample of reconstructed wind direction data for Indonesia’s Typical Meteorological Year (TMY), developed using a Monte Carlo method to fill gaps in historical hourly records. The reconstruction enhances the early TMY dataset [1] by completing missing wind direction values, enabling more robust modeling and analysis. Included are annual windrose visualizations for 106 meteorological stations, summarizing the wind speed and direction profiles derived from the reconstructed TMY data. These plots support applications in energy modeling, passive design, and climatological assessment. The full TMY dataset is freely accessible through the official BMKG repository: [https://iklim.bmkg.go.id/id/i-tmy/] To support continuity and future updates, we commit to refining this Mendeley record in alignment with any changes to the institutional data repository. This work builds on the foundational methodology described in: [1] I.D.G.A. Putra, H. Nimiya, A. Sopaheluwakan, T. Kubota, H.S. Lee, R.P. Pradana, M.N.F. Alfata, R.B. Perdana, D.S. Permana, N.F. Steps to reproduce
This dataset is provided to support the manuscript submission to Data in Brief, titled: “Wind Direction Dataset for Typical Meteorological Year of Indonesia Based on Monte Carlo Method.” The data is identical to the version already uploaded to the official BMKG repository. To access and use the dataset meaningfully, users must first register at the BMKG climate portal: https://iklim.bmkg.go.id/id/i-tmy/ The procedure for generating the wind direction values using the Monte Carlo method is described in detail in the manuscript. Users are encouraged to refer to the methodology section of the article once published.
