Description

This repository contains the R code used to reproduce all analyses, figures, and tables reported in the manuscript "Nonlinear survey-effort adjustment removes the reported bird-diversity effect". The code reproduces the published regression models of Zhang, H. et al. (2026), evaluates seven alternative survey-effort specifications across four biodiversity measures (Richness, Shannon diversity, Simpson diversity, and Evenness), generates all figures and tables, and performs model selection using the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC). This repository contains the R code and computational environment information used to reproduce all analyses, figures, and tables reported in the manuscript "Nonlinear survey-effort adjustment removes the reported bird-diversity effect". The archive includes the analysis script and a session information file documenting the R version and package versions used in the analyses. The R script performs data preparation, model fitting, statistical summaries, figure generation, and table production. Analyses were conducted in R using the packages fixest and splines. The original data and Stata code were obtained from the publicly available replication archive released by the original authors. This archive is provided to support transparency, reproducibility, and independent verification of all results reported in the associated manuscript. solar_panel_bird_diversity_reanalysis.R: Main R script used to reproduce all analyses, figures, tables, and model-comparison results. sessionInfo_seven_models.txt: Output of sessionInfo() documenting the R version, operating system, and package versions used in the analyses.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download the original datasets and replication materials released by Zhang et al. (2026). 2. Place all data files in the data folder. 3. Install the required R packages listed at the beginning of the script. 4. Run the supplied R script. 5. All figures, tables, model outputs, and summary files will be generated automatically in the result folder.
