Quantitative data were collected between April and June 2018, with assistance from male and female field officers from two local organizations, Farm Africa (FA) and Ten Senses Africa (TSA), which supported the development of the local cashew value chain. Data collection was conducted using Open Data Kit (ODK) electronic questionnaires comprising 88 questions covering farmers' socioeconomic, farming, and household conditions. The sample was drawn from a list of 15,000 registered cashew farmers provided by a local trader, with a minimum sample size of 375. Participants were randomly selected, ensuring they actively managed household cashew trees. Gender was determined via the trader's database and verified in the field. A total of 416 questionnaires were collected, and after data cleaning, 390 respondents (128 women and 244 men) remained, reflecting the typical gender distribution in local cashew farming.
