Description

The dataset corresponds to 16s rRNA sequences obtained by NGS with Illumina Miseq. DNA was extracted from citrus wastewater before and after biological treatment with the fungal strain Pleurotus pulmonarius LBM 105 immobilized in vegetable sponge. The aim was to identify the changes in bacterial communities.

Steps to reproduce

For genomic DNA extraction, 50 mL of filtered citrus wastewater (control and treatment in triplicates) was centrifuged at 4000 x g for 10 min to obtain a pellet. DNA was extracted using NucleoSpin® Soil kit (Biocientífica SA, ARGENTINA) following the manufacturer's recommendations and sent to Macrogen Inc. (Seoul, Republic of Korea) for PCR, amplicon library construction and sequencing (Illumina Miseq). Treatment consisted of 10 days of incubation at 28 °C with 1 g of vegetable sponge (pieces 1 cm3) and 3 agar plugs of P. pulmonarius LBM 105 grown in malt extract agar. Assays were performed in 250 mL Erlenmeyer flasks.
