Contents of the Dataset: Images of 48 different fish species from state of Assam, North-East India stored in individual structured folders. Videos and images of each sample specimen were captured from multiple angles, covering all key regions of the sample using HD smartphone cameras. Data Source Location: Local fish markets from different parts of Assam state, North-East India. Use and Significance of the dataset: (i) This dataset can be used to train, test and analyze computer vision-related tasks such as classification, segmentation etc. using deep learning and machine learning algorithms. (ii) This dataset offers a versatile resource for researchers from many scientific domains including computer science, aquaculture, environmental science and geography along with further specialist studies in ichthyology, conservation, documenting biodiversity patterns and processes taxonomy and genetics. (iii) This dataset provides visual appearances of fish species from different geographic locations within the Assam state, at different geometric scale variations, which may allow researchers to study different patterns and features of a particular species.
