Description

This dataset comprises raw analytical data supporting the trophic ecology study of Gymnocypris chilianensis, an endemic fish species in the Hexi Corridor rivers (Shiyang, Heihe, Shule).

Steps to reproduce

We collected stomach contents from 90 individuals of Gymnocypris chilianensis sampled across three river basins in the Hexi Corridor. Dietary data were obtained using two complementary approaches: (1) stable isotope analysis (δ¹³C and δ¹⁵N) to assess trophic position and carbon source variation, and (2) DNA metabarcoding targeting COI (for animals) and rbcL (for plants) gene regions to characterize dietary composition. DNA was extracted using a commercial kit (TIANGEN DP356), amplified with published primers, and sequenced on the Illumina MiSeq platform. Sequence data were analyzed using standard bioinformatics pipelines to assign taxonomic identities and compare dietary patterns across sites.
