Description

This dataset supports the manuscript entitled “Temporal evolution and coupling mechanisms of the erosion resistance of purple soil under combined polyacrylamide and Cynodon dactylon treatments”. The dataset contains raw and processed experimental data from outdoor cultivation and concentrated-flow scouring experiments conducted on purple-soil slopes in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. The treatments combined three polyacrylamide application rates with the presence or absence of Cynodon dactylon over a 180-day restoration period. The files include raw plant growth data, raw soil property data, raw soil detachment data, treatment coding information, a data dictionary, processed experimental data, erosion-resistance parameters, a manifest file, a README file, and an R script for reproducing the main statistical analyses and model outputs. The data support the analysis of soil detachment capacity, rill erodibility, critical shear stress, apparent cohesion, plant traits, soil structural properties, and their temporal regulatory pathways.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download all files into a single local folder. 2. Open README.md for an overview of the dataset structure. 3. Use treatment_key.xlsx to decode treatment abbreviations and use data_dictionary.xlsx to check variable definitions and units. 4. The raw data are provided in raw_plant_growth_long.xlsx, raw_soil_properties_long.xlsx, and raw_soil_detachment_long.xlsx. 5. The processed dataset used for statistical analyses is provided in experimental_data.xlsx. 6. Run analysis_reproducibility.R in R or RStudio from the folder containing all dataset files. Required R packages are listed at the beginning of the script. 7. The script imports the data, reproduces the main statistical analyses, and generates the model outputs reported in the manuscript.
