This dataset contains high-speed photodiode signals and corresponding surface roughness measurements for vertical side surfaces of cubic LPBF parts. The photodiode operates at a sampling rate of 60 kHz, capturing light intensity in the 750–900 nm wavelength range. Data were recorded for each layer within the top 5 mm of the parts (layers 250–375). The photodiode signals correspond to melt pool monitoring measurements and should be processed to extract data near the edges of each vertical side. A separate file provides the measured areal surface roughness values (Sa, in µm) for all four sides (Front, Left, Back, and Right) of the printed parts, for both the first and second build plates.
