Description

This dataset contains derived event-level analytical results and Python plotting scripts supporting the manuscript “Local rainfall rarity and scarcity of historical analogues for flood-associated storms across five Ningxia cities”. The study examines 21 unique flood-associated rainfall episodes across five cities in Ningxia, northwestern China, during 2015–2025. The dataset provides source data for Figs. 3–5, including local rainfall percentiles, storm-total differences from locally heavy rainfall references, and historical reference-support diagnostics under joint magnitude–duration matching. The package includes CSV files, a data dictionary, a README, and Python plotting scripts. Original hourly precipitation observations are not included because they are subject to the data provider's access and reuse terms.
