Description

The dataset was collected for the development and validation of the Sustainable Development Goals Subjective Engagement Scale (SDGs-SES). The survey was conducted in Japan and targeted 500 adults aged 18 years or older. Participants were recruited through the online survey service “Freeasy” (https://freeasy-survey.com) under the title “Survey on Behaviors Related to SDGs.” An instructional manipulation check (IMC) was used to identify inattentive responses. At Time 1, 430 valid responses remained after excluding participants who failed the IMC. These participants were invited to participate in the second survey approximately one month later. At Time 2, responses were obtained from 398 participants, of whom 384 were retained after excluding those who failed the IMC. For the evaluation of convergent validity, the Prosocial Behavior Scale, Self-Report Altruism Scale, Community Consciousness Scale, and Japanese version of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) were administered. To examine test–retest reliability, the SDGs-SES was administered at both Time 1 and Time 2. Demographic information, including age and sex, was also collected
