Filtered 10-Year Daily Rainfall Dataset for Urban Flood Resilience Modeling in Thaketa Ward 5, Yangon (2014–2023)
Description
This dataset contains the 10-year daily precipitation time-series data (from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2023) utilized for urban hydrological analysis and low impact development technologies in Thaketa Ward 5, Yangon. The data processing workflow is divided into two operational sheets within a single workbook: "Raw_Rainfall_Data": The complete, unedited chronological daily precipitation depth records which were extracted from the GPM IMERG Final Precipitation L3 dataset. "Filtered_Rainfall_Data": The computational matrix used to derive the 95th percentile design storm. In accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) technical guidance for Low Impact Development (LID) sizing, small rainfall events of 2.54 mm (0.1 inch) or less were removed as non-runoff generating events. The filtered sheet features a three-column layout: standard chronological calendar dates (Column A), chronological daily rainfall depths exceeding the 2.54 mm threshold (Column B), and an independent ranked column sorted in strict ascending order (Column C) to allow direct empirical computation of the baseline percentile storm depth. This dataset serves as the boundary condition setup for local EPA SWMM drainage models.
