Description

Replication data, code and other files for a laboratory study examining how reputation affects cooperation through mediators (trust and expectation) in a continuous, four-round trust game. Includes the anonymised raw and cleaned session data, the oTree application used to run the experiment, and the R script used for statistical analysis (non-parametric tests, bootstrap mediation, and PLS-SEM). Data were collected from 146 participants at BRAC University, Bangladesh.

Steps to reproduce

1. Unzip and run the oTree application (Simple_Trust_Game.otreezip) using Python 3.9.13 and oTree ≥5.4.0 to view the experimental interface. Participant-facing materials are provided separately (Instruction_Sheet.pdf, Disclaimer.pdf, Consent_Form.pdf). 2. To reproduce the statistical analysis, place Dataset_Cleaned.csv and Trust_Expectation_Paradox_analysis.R in the same folder. Hayes' PROCESS Macro v5.0 for R is required for the mediation analysis and must be obtained separately from processmacro.org. 3. Run the R script (R 4.4.2). Full setup instructions, software requirements, and variable definitions are provided in README.md and Codebook.docx, included in this dataset.
