Data and code for assessing cold-region rural human settlements under decision uncertainty
Description
This dataset supports the manuscript “When composite assessment masks intervention needs: Burden–support mismatch and priority reclassification in cold-region rural human settlements” (ECOLIND-62108). Version 2 adds Reproducibility_Package.zip, containing the harmonised performance-normalised 41-region by 23-indicator matrix, Python analysis scripts, tested software dependencies, checksums, and expected and recomputed analytical outputs. The package reproduces the DPSIR composite baseline, burden–support mismatch diagnosis, priority reclassification, weighting and definition sensitivity, target-set sensitivity, support-component deletion tests, and global and local spatial statistics. The annual assessment uses 2023 observations compiled from 2024 statistical yearbooks and documented environmental sources; freezing depth is a structural climate indicator as documented in the manuscript and package. The original Version 1 archive is retained for provenance. All records are aggregate and contain no personal or sensitive information. See Repository_File_Descriptions.txt for a file-by-file inventory and the package README.md for execution instructions.

Steps to reproduce
For the current manuscript revision, download and extract Reproducibility_Package.zip. From the extracted Reproducibility_Package directory, install dependencies with: python -m pip install -r requirements.txt. Then run, in order: python code/reproduce_baseline_and_mismatch.py; python code/reproduce_core_results.py; python code/run_revision_robustness.py. Compare outputs with the supplied expected_outputs and recomputed_outputs. The README.md explains inputs, scope and verification, and environment-tested.json and requirements-tested.txt record the tested environment. The supplementary figure script is code/build_supplementary_s1.py. Do not mix the legacy Version 1 archive with the current package. Mendeley_Data_Upload_Ready_V1.zip is retained as the original deposit and follows its own README.txt and scripts 01–06.
