Description

We hypothesized: (1) The intercropping system combined with AMF inoculation would enhance photosynthetic performance and biomass production of plants grown in Cd/Pb-contaminated soils; (2) The intercropping-AMF system would reduce heavy metal uptake and accumulation in the crop species Vicia faba while simultaneously increasing Cd absorption and accumulation in the Cd-hyperaccumulator Sonchus asper; (3) The intercropping-AMF system would improve the antioxidative capacity of plants under Cd and Pb stress. The uploaded dataset comprises the following measured parameters: mycorrhizal symbiosis traits (AMF colonization rate and spore density), plant biomass (dry weight), photosynthetic pigment contents (chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b), the plant antioxidant defense system (total antioxidant capacity, soluble protein, total glutathione, malondialdehyde, and sulfhydryl groups), soil pH, soil heavy metal concentrations (soil Cd and soil Pb), and heavy metal concentrations in different plant parts (root Cd, root Pb, shoot Cd, and shoot Pb).
