CFD monitoring-point time-series concentration data for dual-source ammonia (NH₃) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) leakage scenarios in a chemical plant
Description
This dataset contains transient CFD simulation outputs for dual-source toxic-gas leakage scenarios in a realistic chemical plant (domain: 105 m × 170 m), covering two gases with distinct density properties: ammonia (NH₃, buoyant light gas) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S, dense heavy gas). For each scenario, two spatially separated tank units release gas simultaneously (100.0 barg, 15.0 °C, opening diameter 0.05 m each). Wind speed is 2.5 m/s under atmospheric stability class D, modelled with the k-ε turbulence model. Each transient simulation spans 300 s with a 0.5 s time step. Concentration time series are recorded at 714 fixed monitoring points (MP1–MP714) arranged on a 21 × 34 uniform Cartesian mesh (5 m × 5 m per cell). Values are given as mole fraction (m³/m³); multiply by 10⁶ to obtain ppm. Ammonia plumes rise and spread over an extensive area, forming overlapping contaminated zones from the two sources, whereas hydrogen sulfide disperses near the ground and pools in low-lying zones between buildings. Following NIOSH guidance, the early-warning/IDLH thresholds are 100/300 ppm for ammonia and 10/50 ppm for hydrogen sulfide. The dataset includes two files, one per gas (see the accompanying README files for format details). These data support the article "An interpretable RRT*-CFD framework for dynamic evacuation under long-range dual-source gas leakage" submitted to the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries.

Steps to reproduce
The datasets were generated by transient CFD simulations of dual-source toxic-gas leakage in a chemical plant domain (105 m × 170 m). Two tank units release gas simultaneously at 100.0 barg and 15.0 °C through 0.05 m openings. Wind speed is 2.5 m/s (atmospheric stability class D) with the k-ε turbulence model. Each simulation runs for 300 s with a 0.5 s time step [solver: ANSYS Fluent, 版本号]. Gas concentrations are recorded at 714 fixed monitoring points (MP1–MP714) on a 21 × 34 Cartesian mesh (5 m × 5 m cells). To read the data: each row corresponds to one time step and each column to one monitoring point; values are mole fractions (m³/m³), multiply by 10⁶ for ppm. Grid independence was verified with coarse/medium/fine mesh sets (see the related article, Table 2).
