This dataset contains experimental data supporting the study “Abiotic degradation of methylmercury mediated by hydroxyl radicals generated during ferrous oxidation in rice paddy soils”. This study elucidates a previously overlooked dark abiotic MeHg sink in redox-fluctuated rice paddy soils, demonstrating that alternating redox conditions can actively mitigate MeHg accumulation through Fe(II)-driven Fenton-like reactions
