Description

These data belong to the research article “Mass-rearing and life history of Cyclocephala barrerai (Coleoptera: Melolonthidae) and congeneric species” with doi: https://doi.org/10.1093/jisesa/ieaf050. One of the main challenges in studying the biology of Melolonthidae has been the consistent availability of organisms with known characteristics. This study developed a methodology for mass-rearing Cyclocephala barrerai Martínez (Coleoptera: Melolonthidae) over multiple laboratory generations. These data were used to analyze mass-rearing (egg-adult cycle length, weight, fecundity), morphometric comparison between field and laboratory organisms, life cycle and a comparison between the mass-rearing methodology and one where organisms were reared with constant manipulation.
