Description
This dataset is part of the research titled "Formalisation and Centralisation of Street Vendors in the Surabaya Culinary Centre, Indonesia", conducted in 2023. The study explores how the formalization and centralization of street vendors influence two main aspects: their welfare and social relations. Data were collected from 296 street vendors through structured surveys conducted in various culinary centers in Surabaya. Each survey session lasted approximately 10–15 minutes and was conducted in Bahasa Indonesia. The dataset includes responses on key variables such as: Formalisasi (X) Kesejahteraan (Y1) Relasi Sosial (Y2). The uploaded file contains quantitative survey data in Excel format, ready for statistical analysis. It includes anonymized responses, variable codes, and basic tabulations. Although the broader research also involved qualitative interviews, only the processed survey and statistical data are included in this dataset due to ethical considerations regarding participant privacy. Full interview transcripts are not publicly available but may be provided upon reasonable request and subject to ethical approval. This dataset is useful for researchers and policymakers interested in urban informal economies, vendor formalization policies, and the socio-economic impacts of urban planning in Indonesia. All data have been anonymized to ensure participant confidentiality

Steps to reproduce
1) Data were collected via offline surveys using a structured questionnaire in Bahasa Indonesia; 2) Respondents were selected through systematic random sampling among street vendors in Surabaya culinary centers; 3) Survey results were entered into Excel and cleaned manually; 4) Variables were coded numerically (e.g., 4 = Strongly Agree, 1 = Strongly Disagree); 5) Data can be analyzed using statistical tools such as SPSS
