Description

Oceanographic data were collected in the Kara Gates Strait during the "Floating University 2023" cruise onboard the R/V Dalnie Zelentsy from 17 to 20 July 2023. A total of 47 full-depth Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) casts were performed across the strait at depths ranging from 30 to 200 m using a Sea & Sun Technology CTD 48M probe. Furthermore, a drift station was occupied to obtain high-frequency temperature data. A 45-meter-long distributed temperature sensor string (thermal profiler; see Svergun et al., 2022, https://doi.org/10.37102/1992-4429_2022_42_04_05 for instrument details) was deployed. During this drift, repeated yoyo CTD casts were also conducted. This dataset is suitable for analyzing the vertical thermohaline structure to study internal wave dynamics and frontal processes in the region.
