Description

This dataset provides derived tabular results and GIS layers supporting the analysis of landscape change along the 9.7-km Ouargla tramway corridor (Algerian Sahara) for 2016, 2018 and 2024. It includes segment- and distance-band summaries of Sentinel-2 NDVI/NDBI change metrics, an EcoBalance indicator (ΔNDVI − ΔNDBI), and station-based DEM viewshed exposure indicators. The package contains (1) an English results workbook, (2) a data dictionary defining all variables and codes, (3) a GeoPackage with the linear corridor segmentation, buffers and station layers, and (4) a README describing structure, coordinate reference system, and reuse notes. The dataset is intended for reproducible EO–GIS corridor monitoring and for comparing segment-to-segment trade-offs in hot-arid urban environments.

Steps to reproduce

Download the dataset files (Excel workbooks, GeoPackage and README). Open the GeoPackage in QGIS (or any GIS supporting .gpkg) and verify the corridor segments, station points and buffer bands (CRS as stated in the README). Use the Data Dictionary to interpret field names and codes. Open RSASE_Data_English.xlsx to access segment- and distance-band summaries of NDVI/NDBI change metrics and visibility exposure indicators. To replicate the original EO processing, obtain Sentinel-2 Level-2A imagery for 2016/2018/2024 for the Ouargla corridor extent and compute NDVI and NDBI; then aggregate statistics by the provided segment and buffer polygons as described in the README.
