This dataset contains species occurrence and/or abundance data for bats, small mammals, and birds sampled along an urban-to-rural gradient in the Metropolitan City of Milan, Italy. It includes environmental and spatial predictors for each sampling site, such as distance from city center, vegetation structure, urban fabric characteristics, and landscape composition and was used to analyze beta diversity and its turnover and nestedness components across three vertebrate taxa with contrasting ecological traits and dispersal abilities.
