Trace element compositions of sulfides were determined using a Resonetics S–155–LR 193 nm ArF excimer laser ablation system coupled to an Agilent 7700x quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA–ICP–MS). In situ sulfur isotope analyses were conducted via secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) on a Cameca IMS–1280 instrument. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) investigations were performed using an FEI Talos F200X G2 TEM at 200 kV and a FEI double Cs-corrected Titan Themis G2 TEM at 300 kV. Details of analytical methods are provided in the Supplemental Material. For a more detailed experimental process, please refer to the article "Two-stage release of gold from pyritic sediments during greenschist-facies metamorphism".
