Raw individual behavioral, biochemical, neurochemical, and serum biomarker data from Swiss mice exposed to microplastics under contrasting climatic regimes

This dataset contains the raw individual-level data used in the manuscript “CLIMATE-MODULATED PARTICLE TOXICITY: ACUTE EXPOSURE TO AN ENVIRONMENTALLY INFORMED MICROPLASTIC MIXTURE INDUCES SEX-DEPENDENT SYSTEMIC REORGANIZATION IN SWISS MICE”. The dataset includes behavioral, hepatic biochemical, brain neurochemical, serum biochemical, and hepatic microplastic accumulation data from young male and female Swiss mice exposed for 7 days to an environmentally informed microplastic mixture under two contrasting climatic regimes. Experimental groups include Control, MP-I, and MP-II, under realistic and pessimistic climatic scenarios. The file provides the absolute raw values used before index compilation and multivariate/network analyses, including hepatic oxidative stress and biotransformation biomarkers, brain acetylcholinesterase activity, colorimetric estimates of serotonin and dopamine, serum biochemical and endocrine markers, and open field behavioral scores. A data dictionary is included to describe each variable, experimental factor, and coding structure. These data support the transparency and reproducibility of the univariate analyses, composite indices, multivariate analyses, and network-based metrics reported in the manuscript.

Steps to reproduce
Data are organized at the individual-animal level. Each row corresponds to one animal and includes experimental group, sex, climatic scenario, animal identifier, and raw behavioral, hepatic biochemical, brain neurochemical, serum biochemical, and endocrine measurements. To reproduce the analyses reported in the manuscript, users should first use the raw variables to perform univariate comparisons according to the experimental design, considering sex, climatic scenario, and exposure group. Composite indices, such as oxidative stress and biotransformation-related indices, can be calculated from standardized values of the corresponding raw biomarkers as described in the manuscript. Multivariate analyses, including PERMANOVA, PCoA, distance to control, PLS-DA, and network-based metrics, should be performed using the raw biomarker matrix after standardization, following the methodological procedures described in the Data analysis section of the manuscript. The worksheet “Data_dictionary” describes the meaning and coding of each variable. The worksheet containing the individual-level raw data should be used as the primary source for reproducing the statistical analyses.
