The dataset provides a description of the laser ablation - inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) method used for quantitative analysis of 40 major and trace elements in glass fragments from tephra. Analyses were performed using a 193 nm excimer laser ablation system (GeoLas Pro) coupled with Agilent 7900s and Agilent 8900 ICP-MS instruments at the Institute of Earth Sciences, Kiel University (Germany). The method has been applied since April 24, 2017. The description follows a template from the EarthChem portal (https://earthchem.org/communities/tephra#more-on-tephra-0a21).
