The primary aims were to investigate whether the number of psychiatric diagnoses differed across suicide-related groups, whether psychological pain was associated with both suicide-related status and diagnostic complexity, and whether distinct diagnostic patterns could be identified using exploratory cluster analyses. The data were collected as part of a cross-sectional clinical study involving psychiatric inpatients recruited at the University Hospital of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bern, Switzerland. To protect participant privacy, all IDs were anonymised using randomly generated numbers. The dataset includes anonymised individual-level data on: * Randomised numbers as placeholders for participant IDs * Demographic variables (e.g., age and gender) * Group classification (recent suicide attempt, recent suicidal ideation, clinical control) * M.I.N.I.-based psychiatric diagnoses and diagnostic count variables * Psychological pain (MBPPAS total score) * Depressive symptom severity (BDI-II total score and Item 9) This dataset is provided to enable transparency and facilitate replication of the analyses reported in the associated publication. **File included:** `MINI_PSSCHMERZ_PUBLIC.sav` – SPSS dataset

Steps to reproduce
To reproduce the analyses reported in the associated article, the SPSS dataset provided in this repository should be imported into SPSS or R. The analyses were conducted using SPSS Statistics (Version 30.0) and R (Version 4.4.1). Reproduction of the results requires using the variables as described in the manuscript, including group allocation variables, M.I.N.I.-based diagnostic count variables, MBPPAS sum scores, BDI-II scores, and variables used for the regression and cluster analyses. The main analytical steps are as follows: 1. Import the dataset into SPSS or R. 2. Reconstruct or verify the diagnostic variables and the total number of psychiatric diagnoses according to the coding rules described in the Methods section of the article. 3. Reproduce descriptive statistics for demographic, diagnostic, and clinical variables across the three study groups. 4. Reproduce the primary group comparisons for the number of psychiatric diagnoses and psychological pain. 5. Reproduce correlation analyses examining associations between psychological pain and the number of psychiatric diagnoses. 6. Reproduce the multinomial logistic regression models examining the association of psychological pain, depressive symptom severity, and diagnostic count with suicide-related group status. 7. Reproduce the exploratory cluster analyses of psychiatric diagnoses and the corresponding follow-up analyses examining associations between cluster membership, suicide-related group status, number of diagnoses, and psychological pain. 8. If desired, reproduce the sensitivity analyses reported in the Supplementary Material using the alternative analytical samples described in the manuscript. A full list of R packages used for the analyses is provided in the Supplementary Material of the associated article (Supplementary Table S1). Detailed information on variable coding, diagnostic harmonisation procedures, and sensitivity analyses is described in the Methods and Supplementary Material of the article.
