Description

This dataset was compiled and utilized as part of the preliminary analysis for a research study examining the relationship between foreign exchange contributions and financial performance among Indonesia’s leading export-oriented corporations. Covering the fiscal years 2023 to early 2024, the data includes revenue figures, net profit values, and foreign exchange earnings from key companies operating in mining, energy, and manufacturing sectors. The primary purpose of this dataset is to identify strategic issues and patterns relevant to Indonesia’s macroeconomic stability and export resilience. It serves as a foundational resource for selecting representative firms for in-depth analysis and determining key variables influencing corporate and national economic outcomes. The dataset supports further empirical modeling and policy-relevant insights aimed at strengthening export-led growth strategies.

Steps to reproduce

Steps to Reproduce The dataset was developed to support an exploratory study on the correlation between foreign exchange contributions and financial performance among Indonesia’s major export-oriented corporations. The data was compiled through a structured multi-step approach involving secondary data collection, verification, and formatting: Company Selection Criteria Corporations included in the dataset were selected based on three main criteria: High export intensity and contribution to Indonesia's foreign exchange earnings Public availability of audited financial data (2023–early 2024) Strategic role in national commodity exports (e.g., coal, copper, palm oil) Data Sources Data were obtained from the following credible sources: Annual reports and financial statements published by the companies Press releases and investor briefings available on official corporate websites Government and financial regulatory databases, including OJK (Indonesia Financial Services Authority) and BPS (Statistics Indonesia) Publicly accessible databases such as Bloomberg and Reuters (when available) Data Collected Key financial metrics collected for each firm include: Total revenue (in IDR trillion) Net profit (in IDR trillion) Foreign exchange earnings or export proceeds (in IDR trillion) Where direct foreign exchange data was not disclosed, proxy estimates were derived using export volume and average global commodity prices for the period. Data Processing and Verification Data was recorded in Microsoft Excel with standardized units and naming conventions Cross-verification was conducted across multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency Where discrepancies occurred, data from official audited reports were prioritized Calculated metrics (e.g., foreign exchange contribution as % of revenue) were computed using simple formulas Limitations and Assumptions All monetary values were converted to IDR where needed, using Bank Indonesia's mid-market exchange rates for 2023 Companies without export-related disclosures or with incomplete data were excluded The dataset does not include firm-level disaggregation by product category This workflow allows others to replicate the dataset by following the same selection criteria, source triangulation, and data processing procedures. The dataset may be extended in future versions to include additional firms or disaggregated export data.
