Description

This dataset supports the paper “Demography and Savings: Evidence from a Russian Household Survey” and is based on microdata from the All-Russian Survey of Consumer Finance conducted by the Bank of Russia. It includes two household-level datasets: HH_dataset_base_allwaves_Mar2026.dta and HH_dataset_base_2022_Mar2026.dta, constructed by merging household and individual questionnaires using unique survey identifiers. The datasets differ only in the definition of the household head: in the first, the head is defined as the adult member with the highest personal income, while in the second, it is based on the respondent’s self-identification in the 2022 survey wave. Both datasets contain all regression-ready variables used in the empirical analysis. The construction of variables and coding procedures are documented in the accompanying do-files (Demography_and_Savings_part1.do and Demography_and_Savings_2022_part2.do), while detailed descriptions of constructed variables and their components can be found in the accompanying “Datasets and Constructed Variables Guide”.
