Description

The data are associated with the manuscript entitled "Combined control of fault geometry, displacement distribution and mechanical stratigraphy on the development of heterogeneous fault-controlled fluid pathways in tight basinal carbonates", to be published in the Journal of Structural Geology. The data are organized in an Excel file by figure (Figures 2–8). The data were collected at Vignanotica Bay (Gargano Promontory, southern Italy) and derive from a field-based structural analysis and the analysis of two Digital Outcrop Models (DOMs) of an extensional fault system. The dataset includes: fracture and fault orientation data (strike–dip angle, right-hand rule); fault kinematic data (pitch, 0–180°); throw values for individual faults measured on vertical sections using stratigraphic markers; throw-gradient values; fracture-spacing data collected along scanlines in background domains and damage zones; H/S ratio data for fractures sampled along scanlines, where H is fracture height and S is fracture spacing; and fault-trace length data measured on vertical sections. For further information on the data format and acquisition methods, readers are referred to the Methods section of the above-mentioned paper.
