MICRE and AWARE Campaign Model Simulations by EAMv1 and CAM6
Description
This data repository contains simulation output from two global climate models, i.e., DOE E3SMv1/EAMv1 model and NCAR CESM2/CAM6 model. The simulations were conducted using a nudging mode toward reanalysis data and cover the period of two DOE field campaigns – MICRE and AWARE campaigns. The model output files are archived in .mat (MAT-File) and .nc (NetCDF) format. Model output is used in the analysis in the Barone et al. (2023) manuscript entitled “Impacts of Synoptic-Scale Dynamics on Clouds and Radiation in High Southern Latitudes” by Tyler Barone, Minghui Diao, Yang Shi, Xi Zhao, Xiaohong Liu and Israel Silber. Two folders contain different types of model output as described below: Regional_and_global_output: CAM6 and EAMv1 model output at the regional and global scales is located in this folder. The .mat file contains model output of variables related to synoptic dynamical conditions (sea-level pressure and vertical velocity). Simulation results for the AWARE (2016) and MICRE (2017) field campaigns are stored in separate folder directories. Single_column_output: CAM6 and EAMv1 model output only for the single model grid collocated with the locations of MICRE and AWARE campaigns is located in this folder. A vertical column of model output was saved for each of the MICRE and AWARE campaigns, while the model simulations were conducted on global scale. The .mat file contains model output with all relevant variables (e.g., net shortwave radiation, net longwave radiation, cloud fraction and liquid water path). Simulation results for the AWARE (2016) and MICRE (2017) field campaigns are in separate folder directories.
