this data article explores the criteria that affect the precision of estimating the cost of sports projects from the perspective of engineers at the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports. The data was obtained by using qualitative and quantitative research methods were adopted in collecting and analysing the data. Based on the literature review, a questionnaire was prepared and then distributed to Engineering of the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports, as the sample size reached 44 individuals. The findings reveal that the top 15 affecting criteria out of fifty-five are: repetition, difference in construction value, additional work (change orders), precision of tables of quantities, continuous updating of the design requirements for sports stadiums according to FIFA conditions, clarity of drawings and specifications, labour cost, economic situation, type of sports fields (international or local), duration of the project, building materials prices, type of contract, equipment cost, sports field location, experience and skill level of the appraiser, Project documentation are complete, and the cost data and details are complete.
