Description

This study investigates behavioural factors influencing gold investment decisions among Indian retail investors. Data were collected from 617 retail investors across major metropolitan regions of India using a structured questionnaire and analysed through partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The study examines loss aversion and herd behaviour as behavioural antecedents, with fear of missing out (FOMO) and subjective expected pleasure (SEP) as mediating mechanisms. The findings indicate significant relationships among these behavioural constructs and gold investment decisions, with FOMO emerging as an important psychological mechanism. The dataset provides empirical evidence for examining behavioural patterns underlying gold investment in the Indian context.
