Description

P. falciparum parasites manipulate host metabolic processes during malaria to ensure their survival and progression, causing the host and parasite metabolic pathways to become intertwined. 20% of severe falciparum malaria patients without coma exhibit cerebral malaria (CM)-like brain changes. This is a comparative metabolomics analysis between CM (with coma) and CM-like (without coma) patients with the same neuroimaging signature, to elucidate the etiology of coma in CM.
