Description

This dataset contains the data underlying the carbon budget and willingness-to-pay analysis of Hengqin National Wetland Park in Zhuhai, China. It comprises four components: carbon sink accounting data, carbon source accounting data, socioeconomic and carbon price data, and questionnaire responses. Carbon sink data include mangrove area, annual carbon sequestration rate, ecosystem carbon stock, and soil organic carbon stock parameters. These data were derived from official land-use data, environmental impact assessment approvals, and published literature. Carbon source data include tourist numbers, transportation modes, accommodation and catering consumption, park operational energy consumption, and community energy consumption. Socioeconomic data include regional gross domestic product, tourism revenue, carbon market prices, and blue carbon credit prices. Questionnaire data include 422 valid responses from visitors to Hengqin National Wetland Park in spring 2025. The questionnaire covered carbon footprint cognition, wetland carbon sequestration cognition, ecological protection attitude, low-carbon behavioral habits, willingness to pay for carbon offsetting, and acceptable payment amounts. Remote sensing data include NASA HLS Sentinel-2 imagery for 2016, 2020, 2024, and 2025, used to derive the ExG vegetation index and mangrove area change. Processed data are provided in Excel and GeoTIFF formats. De-identified questionnaire data and carbon accounting data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request. Remote sensing data are publicly available from NASA HLS.
