Description

Orthodontic aligners have become a widely embraced alternative to traditional braces. In our research team, we are currently engaged in a comprehensive project examining the biomechanical characteristics of these aligners through a combination of experimental and numerical methods. In the current study, we introduced a novel electric wax-block typodont that offers a sensor-free pre-clinical model for screening the performance of sequential orthodontic aligners. The study demonstrated that this electric wax-block typodont is a reliable, cost-effective tool for simulating aligner-induced tooth movement. Using this setup, 3D-printed aligners effectively demonstrated correcting upper anterior incisor rotations across varying severities without the need for auxiliary attachments.
