Description

This dataset supports the manuscript “Separating earthquake-sequence clustering from reservoir-operation signals around four Taiwanese reservoirs: a reproducible seismicity screening for dam safety.” It contains the processed earthquake catalog, reservoir water-level data, reservoir coordinates, reservoir-centered 30- and 50-km domain assignments, declustering outputs, magnitude-completeness and b-value results, monthly hydro-seismic predictors, annual Taiwan seismicity context data, lag-test results, rate-screening outputs, and scripts used to reproduce the tables and figures. The study screens whether monthly reservoir operation is associated with shallow seismicity around Feicui, Shimen, Zengwen, and Wushantou reservoirs during 2003-2025. The dataset is intended for reproducibility, verification, and reuse in reservoir-triggered seismicity, earthquake-catalog analysis, and dam-safety screening studies.

Steps to reproduce

To reproduce the results, unzip the dataset and open the MATLAB scripts in the Data folder. Run from the dataset root directory. The workflow imports the processed earthquake catalog and reservoir water-level files, constructs 30- and 50-km reservoir-centered domains, applies focal-depth and magnitude filters, performs magnitude-dependent declustering, estimates magnitude completeness and Aki-Utsu b-values with bootstrap confidence intervals, creates monthly hydro-seismic predictors, performs annual-block permutation lag tests, calculates Taiwan-wide annual trend and change-point diagnostics, computes local rate-screening quantities, and exports the tables and figures used in the manuscript.
