Description

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated the effects of low-dose yeast beta-glucan (1,3/1,6) supplementation on respiratory symptoms and psychological well-being among moderately stressed adults in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Over a 12-week intervention period, participants received either placebo, 120 mg, or 204 mg of yeast beta-glucan daily. Outcomes included upper respiratory tract infection severity (WURSS-21), mood states, fatigue, and health-related quality of life, alongside safety blood parameters monitoring. The results show that taking a low dose of yeast beta-glucan is safe and linked to better respiratory symptoms and mental health, suggesting it could be helpful for people who are under stress.
