Elicited metaphor dataset

Description

This file contains data of three elicited metaphors collected from 98 students from a disciplinary alternative school in China. The three metaphors are: This school is like...because...; English learning is like...because...; My future is like...because... This dataset is used to explore how these students negotiated their positions in the alternative educational setting across three domains: student identities, learner identities, and future selves. Iterative thematic analysis was employed to analyze the metaphorical representations and their entailments, resulting in five themes for each identity domain.
