Dataset on Cognitive Control, Emotional Triggers, Body Image, Salience, and Habit Formation to Investigate Neurological Aspects of Eating Disorders
Description
This dataset contains those behavioral aspects related to eating disorders, including cognitive control, emotional triggers, perception of body image, and practices followed in order to regulate weight, which could be useful in research into the neurological associations linked with eating disorders. Data collection was done through an online survey completed by 550 participants. The questionnaire comprises 56 questions, which are divided into six sections: demographic information, cognitive control, affective value representation, salience or taste processing, body image processing, and reward processing or habit formation. First five was for demographic, items 6 through 38 were adapted from the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire; items 39 through 51 were adapted from the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire, and items 52 through 55 were designed for this research. The last question refers to how the participants perceive themselves in relation to eating disorders. Data collection was done using Google Forms and openly stored in Google Sheets, and distribution was made by email, social networks, and a QR code for face-to-face collection. This dataset could help other researchers by providing a rich contribution to understanding the constructs of emotional and habitual behavior in eating patterns, and it informs the development of brain-based models to better conceptualize eating disorders.
