PrEP Impact - Estimation tool
Description
The PrEP Impact Tool has been specifically adapted for Latin America and the Caribbean and can be tailored for use in individual countries. It is a mathematical modeling resource and regional public good designed to identify the optimal annual growth rates in PrEP uptake required to impact reduction in HIV incidence and progress toward achieve HIV elimination goals. The model has been implemented in an accessible Excel format to ensure usability, clarity, and practicality for users at all levels of health planning within Ministries of Health. Designed to be flexible and country-specific, the tool allows adaptation based on each nation’s available data, prevention objectives, and local parameters. It enables users to simulate the potential impact of various HIV prevention interventions and explore how these interact with other along the HIV care cascade.

ChatGPT Plus The PrEP Impact Tool can be adapted according to available data, initial conditions, population parameters, and target populations. These data can be modified in the “Initial Conditions” tab, as well as in the green-highlighted cells within the “Model” tab. The “Model – Lower Bound” and “Model – Upper Bound” tabs allow users to apply different effectiveness values for various prevention interventions (efficacy adjusted for adherence) and to perform sensitivity analyses on this parameter. The “Database” sheet contains regional data that feed the model for Latin America and each country in the region; these data can be updated according to the statistical availability of each country. Finally, once the data and initial conditions have been updated, the user should select their country from the drop-down menu located in cell C6 of the Initial Conditions tab and in cell C2 of the Model tab.
