Description

This study quantifies the orbital characteristics of sixty dried skulls from Peruvian origin. There was no difference between both eyes in the periorbital region and orbital volume, however measurements of medial and lateral wall from the left orbital region are smaller than the right side. Orbital volumen measurements were similar to those reported by Asian studies but different from those reported by Chilean previous studies. It would be explained by the minimal genetic differences between Asian and Amerindian races, as demonstred by Cavalli-Sforza [1992], while CANDELA group found that Chilean genes are mostly of European ancestry, like Colombian population (Ruiz-Linares A, 2014).
