Codes for the article “Evolution of the financial policy framework in the Middle East and North Africa over the last 35 years”
Description
These codes use the original sources of data to add in replicating the JBR article. It uses data from Chinn and Ito 2006, Fernandez et al. 2016, Alam et al 2019, Laeven and Valencia 2020, to document financial crises and macroprudential policies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) relative to other countries. Steps to reproduce
The “M_MENA.do” do file is the main file that calls all the sub-codes from beginning to end. “Summary_figures.do" uses the Laeven and Valencia 2020 dataset to create Figure 1, Figure 2, Table 1. “Summary_MaPPs.do" uses the Alam et al. 2019 dataset to create Figure 3, Figure 4, Figure 5, Table 2. It then uses the Chinn and Ito 2006 dataset to create Figure 6. Finally, it uses the Fernandez et al. 2016 dataset to create Figure 7.
