Description
It was hypothesized that Object Imagery was related to the detailing task and Spatial Imagery was related to the design transformation task. This led to the assumption that Object visualizers would perform better in detailing-oriented tasks within different design mediums. While Spatial visualizers would perform better in transformation-related tasks within different design mediums. The subjects were chosen from four architecture colleges in Bangalore, India. The choice was based on a participatory basis. Fourth-year design students were chosen to participate in the study to ensure that metacognitive strategies related to Object Imagery and Spatial Imagery. Informed consent was obtained from the students before the experiment was conducted. The three design mediums were chosen based on use in design conceptualization ascertained by a survey; Sketching Blindfold and SketchUp. Three sets of questions were created to ensure that the experiment could be carried out as a workshop to save time. The three sets would ensure students did not get influenced by others. Isomorphic tasks were created for both detailing and transformation design scenarios and then sent to jurors who evaluated the problems to ensure that the complexity and the scale of the problem were the same. The variables affecting the study were identified and some of the variables as design problem complexity, design expertise, Design Instructions, and mental energy were neutralized through experiment design.

Steps to reproduce
The final data was arrived at using SPSS for correlation and linear regression. The results are shared in the form of jpeg of tables. The individual data columns that need explanation are cognitive style score, marks obtained by the subjects in ‘detail’ and ‘transform’ problems. To arrive at the cognitive style score. The subjects were asked to fill out the OVSIQ (Object Imagery, Verbal, and Spatial Imagery Questionnaire) which were used to arrive at the Cognitive Style score. The marks of the questions were based on the performance of students. The performance was marked in the ‘detail’ problem on the amount of detail, the novelty of the detail, and the different scales at which the solution was provided. The performance was marked in the ‘transform’ problem on the number of transformations, function accommodation, and the distinction of change. All problems were marked by three jurors. The marks were then averaged to arrive at the final marks that was utilized for data analysis.
