Description

High-velocity impacts conducted on UHMWPE soft armor panels. A Finite Element Method model was combined with experimental tests to find the best stacking sequence using three different UHMWPE materials. Data are divided into three groups: First, the numerical model is fitted using experimental tests on single layers. Second, the numerical model is validated using experimental tests on 6 stacking sequences combining the three UHMWPE materials. Finally, the numerical model is used to find the best configuration comparing 17 stacking sequences.
