# Dataset: Knowledge, Attitude, Practice (KAP) of Pesticide Use among Cotton Farmers in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, India ## Description This repository contains raw survey data, processed analytical datasets, statistical tables, and figures supporting the paper: *“Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices (KAP) of Pesticide Use among Cotton Farmers in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, India: The Critical Influence of Dealer Advice and Regional Disparities”* Data was collected from 250 cotton farmers across 5 districts (Wardha, Amravati, Nagpur, Akola, Buldhana) in 2022–2024. All data is anonymized. ## Folder Structure - `data/raw/`: Raw survey responses (`raw_survey_data_all_districts.xlsx`) - `data/processed/`: Processed datasets for dosage, insecticide usage, DAS patterns (`survey_processed_data0.xlsx`, `survey_processed_data1.xlsx`, `survey_processed_data2.xlsx`) - `data/tables/`: Statistical tables (KAP scores, regression, district comparisons) (`Tables.docx`) - `figures/`: All figures (SEM path, PCA biplots, heatmaps, bar charts) (`Figures.pdf`) - `code/`: R script template to reproduce KAP scores and stats (`kap_analysis_template.R`) (kap_analysis_core_figures.R) - `docs/`: Codebook and survey instrument (`codebook_kap_survey.pdf`, `questionnaire_english.pdf`) “Additional figures (e.g., insecticide usage by DAS, tank mixture compositions) were generated using Excel or manual aggregation for visualization purposes and are included in Figures.pdf for reference. Steps to reproduce

Download and Prepare Data Download raw_survey_data_all_districts.xlsx (raw survey data) from this repository. Ensure you have R (v4.3.1 or later) and Python (v3.13 or later) installed. Install Required Packages In R:install.packages(c("readxl", "dplyr", "ggplot2", "lavaan", "FactoMineR", "factoextra", "ggrepel")) In Python:pip install pandas numpy scipy Run Core Analysis Script Execute kap_analysis_core_figures.R (included in /code/). Open Tables.docx for formatted statistical tables (KAP item scores, regression outputs, Tukey HSD groupings). Or run kap_analysis_core_figures.R to regenerate regression_table9.csv and summary stats. Reproduce Figures All figures (SEM, PCA, bar charts, heatmaps, correlations) are regenerated by the R script and saved as .png in /figures/. For publication-ready versions, refer to Figures.pdf.
