Description

This dataset contains the supporting data generated for the study investigating microRNA-mediated regulatory mechanisms in leprosy, with a focus on miR-889-3p and its potential target gene SLC35E1. The dataset includes raw and processed data from miRNA expression profiling, experimental validation, and bioinformatic prediction analyses. The dataset is organized into three main sections: (1) miRNA sequencing and expression profiling data: This section contains miRNA expression profiling results obtained from multiple biological samples, including skin lesions, serum, and nasal mucosa from patients with leprosy and healthy controls. The data include differentially expressed miRNAs identified during the discovery phase and related visualization files. (2) Experimental validation data: This section includes quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) validation results of selected miRNAs, including miR-889-3p, in clinical samples before and after multidrug therapy (MDT). It also contains data from functional validation experiments, including dual-luciferase reporter assays and immunohistochemical analysis of SLC35E1 expression in leprosy lesions. (3) Prediction and bioinformatic analysis of miR-889-3p target genes: This section contains target gene prediction results for miR-889-3p, including candidate target genes identified using bioinformatic tools and subsequent enrichment analyses. These data provide comprehensive molecular and experimental resources supporting the investigation of miR-889-3p as a candidate molecular marker associated with disease status and treatment-related changes in leprosy. The dataset is intended to facilitate further research into miRNA-mediated host responses during Mycobacterium leprae infection.
