Description

This dataset contains urban grassland vegetation data collected in Jelgava, Latvia, together with geographic information for the surveyed sample plots. Field surveys were conducted in 102 individual 1 × 1 m sample plots located in urban grassland areas. Vegetation was assessed using the Braun–Blanquet method. A total of 131 vascular plant species were recorded across the 102 sample plots. The dataset provides information on the recorded species, including species names in Latvian and Latin, taxonomic information, vegetation cover, and occurrence across individual plots. The data can be used to assess species composition, frequency, constancy, vegetation similarity, and patterns of urban grassland biodiversity. Information on the surveyed sites includes plot identifiers, survey dates, locations, and geographic coordinates. The spatial information enables the sample plots to be mapped and analysed using Geographic Information System (GIS) software, including ArcGIS and other spatial analysis tools. The dataset is intended to support research on urban vegetation, grassland ecology, plant species diversity, spatial patterns of vegetation, and biodiversity in urban environments. It also provides baseline data that may be used for future monitoring and comparative studies of urban grasslands in Jelgava and other urban areas.
