Cooperative Atlantic Menhaden Winter Survey 2022 biosamples

Description

Raw Atlantic menhaden biological sampling data collected during 2022 Cooperative Atlantic Menhaden Winter Survey. Length and weight data were collected for all fish sampled, and a subset were selected for additional data collection (sex, maturity, eviscerated weight, and age). In RawCoopAtlMenBiosamples.csv, data elements include School_Number (school identification number; >123 = port samples), Basket_Number (sampling basket number), FL (fork length in mm), TL (total length in mm), Whole_Weight (whole weight in kg), Sex (F=Female, M=Male, U=Unknown), Maturity_Code (0=not checked, 1=immature,2=mature resting, 3=mature ripe, 4 = mature spent, 9 = unknown), EvWeight (eviscerated weight in kg), Date (date collected), Data_Collection_Period (Survey at sea, PostSurvey at sea, PortSamples at port). Note that Basket_Number >100 indicates same basket as 3rd digit but sampled at different workstation (ex: fish from basket 1 may have been processed at workstations 1 and 101). In RawCoopAtlMenBiosamplesAges.csv, additional data elements include Lab_Part (VIMS_OtoAgeRead2 = otolith-based ages read by VIMS, BFT_ScaleAgeRead = scale-based ages read by NOAA SEFSC Beaufort Laboratory) and Age (NA indicates sample deemed unreadable by ager).
